Project Overview
The following book design resulted from a semester-long investigation of postage stamps in which I created two other books and a website to research my topic from multiple perspectives.
Small but Mighty contains images, interviews, poems, songs, quotes, articles, and crowd-sourced information—all carefully curated to emphasize the powerful yet often overlooked functions of postage stamps. The visual design references postage through its materiality, page layouts, binding, graphic elements, folio, and index.
Post, also pictured below, is a mobile website design that I created as part of my exploration. It pulls inspiration from the ability of stamps to connect people and information. This connective nature is shown through the website navigation. Each page of philatelic content contains hyperlinks that act as pseudo-stamps, sending you to related content. Clicking through the links creates a virtual paper trail. The experience ends with a collection of stamps, each visually representing a piece of content you read.
