Bridget: Widgets for Reflection and Connection
2022 | 4 months | Group Project | CDGD-412: User Experience | Prof. Christine O'Dell
Context
A group project involving the design and usability testing of a digital product aimed at supporting user wellbeing during the transition back to the hustle and bustle of everyday life following the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns.
Approach
Contextual inquiry (AEIOU observation framework); personas; journey mapping; user scenarios; competitor analysis; system mapping; task flows; wireframing; branding and UI design; prototyping; think-aloud usability testing; post-test surveys; affinity diagramming; prototype refinement
Outcomes
A high-fidelity mobile app prototype, Bridget, developed in Adobe XD. The app offers customizable home- and lock-screen widgets designed to support brief yet meaningful moments of self-reflection and facilitate ongoing connection with friends and family through low-friction interactions meant to integrate easily with everyday phone use.
The prototype was evaluated through think-aloud usability testing and post-test surveys with six participants. Findings identified usability challenges, interaction preferences, and opportunities to better support reflective engagement, informing subsequent prototype refinements.
